Unemployment Offices, wyoming unemployment claim.#Wyoming #unemployment #claim

Unemployment Offices

Links to official, Federal and state unemployment office Web sites are listed below. Unemployment offices were established under the Wagner-Peyser Act of 1933.

Unemployment Office Facts

Each unemployment office is a government agency that administers standard, extended and disaster unemployment benefits, and typically also enforces state unemployment laws.

Although unemployment office is the common name, government agencies that administer unemployment benefits go by different names. Unemployment offices are divisions of labor departments or other employment-related governmental agencies.

For example, what’s commonly called the California Unemployment Office is a division of the Employment Development Department (EDD). Subsequently, the California unemployment office is officially called the Employment Development Department or simply the E-D-D.

Employers! Looking for information about Federal and state unemployment taxes? See the information provided by the U.S. Department of Labor and IRS. Click the appropriate state unemployment office links below for information about state unemployment taxes.

Federal Unemployment Office

The Employment Training Administration (ETA), a division of the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL), is the so-called Federal unemployment office. It’s the main unemployment office so to speak, because each state unemployment office is an agent of the DOLETA in the nation’s Unemployment Insurance System.

The DOLETA Web site is a great place to generally research unemployment benefits and laws. It is not, however, the place to file a claim for unemployment benefits. The nearest state unemployment office or its Web site is the place to do that. Links to state unemployment office Web sites are listed below.

State Unemployment Office

As indicated above, the unemployment office Web site for the state in which you work is the place to file a claim for standard, extended or disaster unemployment benefits, if it has online facilities for such. Many do; but, regardless of whether or not they have online claim-filing facilities, state unemployment office Web sites provide instructions or contact information for filing claims by other means.

State unemployment offices also administer state disability programs in the few states that have such. If you’re unemployed due to an injury or illness unrelated to your job, then you might be eligible for one or more state disability programs instead of unemployment benefits.

If you’re unemployed due to an occupational injury or illness directly related to your job, then you might be eligible for workers’ compensation benefits administered by workers’ compensation agencies.

State unemployment office Web sites are also good places to research state-specific unemployment benefits, eligibility requirements, appeals, laws and employer taxes.

Auto Insurance Requirements in Wyoming

Wyoming Insurance Fraud

Insurance fraud costs the country billions of dollars every year, and millions to the state of Wyoming alone. Insurance fraud can take on many forms. Here are a few:

  • Hiding a car in a friend’s garage or in a storage unit and making a claim to the insurance company that the car is “stolen.”
  • Engaging in staged accidents.
  • “Paper” accidents. This is when a claim is filed for an auto accident that never really happened. It is an accident on paper only.
  • Lying on an insurance application.
  • Issuing a bogus insurance policy.
  • Referring accident victims to body shops, doctors and attorneys for a fee.
  • Exaggerating injuries or automobile damage on an insurance claim form.
  • Altering an insurance claim form to make it look like the car insurance is still in effect.

Auto insurance fraud is a crime punishable by jail time, fines and restitution.

Alcohol-Related Accidents in Wyoming

Every year, Wyoming has roughly 140 fatal crashes. Close to 50 of these traffic fatalities are the fault of a driver who is under the influence of alcohol. This translates to over 30 percent of Wyoming’s traffic fatalities being caused by drunk drivers. The blood alcohol content (BAC) limit in Wyoming is 0.08 percent for adults who are 21 and older. Commercial drivers have a stricter limit at 0.04 percent, and people under the age of 21 have a limit of 0.02 percent. In addition to these three limits, Wyoming also has an aggravated BAC limit of 0.15 percent. Penalties are far more severe if a driver has a BAC of 0.15 percent or higher.

Wyoming’s Unusual Laws

There are laws on the books in Wyoming that are strange, unusual and archaic. Here are a few of them:

  • It is against the law to spit on the steps of any Wyoming school.
  • Junk dealers are forbidden from making any sales to a drunk person.
  • It is illegal to take pictures of rabbits from January to April without an official permit.

Driving in Wyoming

Tourists who are driving through Wyoming should be sure to take the road through the Beartooth Mountains. This 94-mile highway passes alpine villages, tundra and lakes, ending in Yellowstone National Park.

This one-of-a-kind park, with its hot, bubbling pools and geysers, is an example of one of the USA’s “calderas” or super volcanoes. Did you know that the Old Faithful Geyser erupts every 91 minutes and is the most predictable geological event on the planet?

Auto Insurance Center Methodology

Auto insurance quotes are for a hypothetical driver who has state minimum coverage with $500 deductibles for one vehicle. The driver is male or female, 35 years old, has good credit, a college degree, and is employed with a clean driving record, no lapse in coverage, or claims. The vehicles are driven 16,000 miles per year for commuting and are garaged on premises. The auto quotes include common discounts and are estimates, but not guaranteed.

Cheap Insurance Wyoming

Driving in Wyoming

Wyoming has some of the lowest insurance rates in the country, in part because of its low population density. Much of the state’s driving is on rural roads, and the biggest city only has around 60,000 residents. So naturally, the chances of getting into a traffic crash are low. But that doesn’t mean you should take the first quote you get. Instead, take some time to learn about your state and explore all the options for cheap insurance Wyoming can offer.

While most of the major nation-wide insurance carriers are licensed to do business in Wyoming, there are many smaller companies and agencies that are headquartered in the state, and are familiar with Wyoming’s unique insurance needs.

Insurance Requirements

  • State law requires bodily injury/death liability in the amounts of $25,000 per person, $50,000 per accident
  • Auto policies are required to include $20,000 in property damage liability
  • Each auto policy includes Uninsured Motorist coverage with limits that match the policy’s BI, but consumers can elect to reject this coverage in writing.
  • Driving without insurance in punishable by a fine of up to $750 and, depending on the severity of the violation, up to 6 months in jail.
  • Wyoming is serious about it’s requirements, but the upside is that less than 10% of drivers are uninsured, which goes a long way towards making the state a safe place to drive

More information on these requirements can be found on the Dept. of Insurance website .

State Facts

  • In Wyoming open containers are permitted, loaded firearms must be in plain view and motorcycle helmets are mandatory for persons under 19 years of age.
  • Wyoming license plates have a number on the left that tells what county the vehicle was registered in.
  • There are more registered vehicles than there are residents (just under 800,000 registered vehicles).
  • There were 421,000 licensed drivers in the state as of 2012.

Helpful Resources

  • The Wyoming Department of Insurance has a database of insurance companies. Consumers can check each company’s license status, financial data, and any complaints against them.
  • The Department of Transportation handles driver license, titles and vehicle registrations, among other services.
